Testul alfa-fetoproteinic (AFP, Alpha-fetoprotein) este un test de sange care li se face femeilor insarcinate in al doilea trimestru de sarcina, de obicei intre saptamanile 15 si 20. Atunci cand o femeie este insarcinata, alfa-fetoproteina este produsa de catre fetus si intra in sangele mamei. Alfa-fetoproteina poate fi detectata intr-o mostra de sange prelevat din brat.Un nivel ridicat de AFP poate fi o indicatie de unor defecte de tub neural, ca spina bifida. Totusi, nivelurile ridicate de AFP pot indica si ca mama are o sarcina mai avansata decat credea si ca data estimata a nasterii trebuie recalculata. Funda?
