On May 11, 2012 the CW cancelled the series despite it being the network’s third highest performer and highest rated freshman series of the season. Many cited the ratings decline in the second half of the season and the expensive cost of special effects and dramatic locations for the show’s cancellation.
Warner Brothers Television had initially entered talks with ABC Family about picking up the show for a second season, but budgetary concerns and an already full development slate at ABC Family prevented the show from being picked up.
