Life in plastic, it's fantastic.
Last season, Moschino delivered a piping hot McDonald's-themed collection at Milan Fashion Week. And how do you top that? With a Barbie runway show, of course.
Jeremy Scott (the creative director of Moschino) is known for his dizzying displays of pop culture on the runway. And so should we really be that shocked at his Barbie-tastic runway show? This is the same guy who just put on a show for his eponymous line at New York Fashion Week that involved Shrek-themed sweaters and an appearance by Miley Cyrus.
But back to Milan and this crazy Barbie show. For spring 2015, Scott sent models down the Moschino runway who looked like Barbie dolls that had somehow come to life, escaped from their plastic Mattel boxes and made it down the runway.
Think platinum blond hair, bubblegum pink lipstick, taffeta, puffed sleeves, mini skirts, oh and did we mention pink? One of our favorite looks was an actual hard plastic bow bra top worn with an open shirt and shorts combo. It looks uncomfortable, yes, but oh-so-Barbie.
There was even a roller skating Barbie model who rolled on down the runway wearing a terry cloth "Moschino" head and wristbands.
So, go on and crank up the Aqua, turn on Legally Blonde and indulge your inner Barbie girl with Moschino's latest collection.
