Avram a fost primul profet din Vechiul Testament?
Există dovezi istorice care confirmă existența lui Avram biblic. Există dovezi, în afară de Biblie, că Avram a existat cu adevărat?

În această privință Lester L. Grabbe afirma în 2007 că pe vremea când studia pentru doctorat (cu mai bine de trei decenii în urma acelui an), „istoricitatea substanțială" a povestirilor Bibliei despre patriarhi și despre cucerirea Canaanului era acceptată pe larg, dar în zilele noastre cu greu se mai poate găsi un istoric care să mai creadă în ea.[15]

Arheologii și istoricii Bibliei au pierdut orice speranță de a dovedi că patriarhii Genezei ar fi fost persoane istorice reale.[16]

Israel Finkelstein a declarat că el nu neagă istoricitatea lui Avraam și a lui Moise, dar cei doi sunt irecuperabil pierduți pentru istoriografie.[17]
