Ceea ce vrea el să zică - așa cum interpretez eu citatul - că dorința de egalitate ("will to equality") apare în urma unui complex de inferioritate și a geloziei. Te gândești "X e mai bun/deștept/frumos ca mine. De ce nu poate să fie toată lumea ca mine?". E un mecanism psihologic interesant.
Am citit mai demult și abordarea altui filosof, care considera că dorința de egalitate apare ca o continuare a egoismului. Gicu vrea o lume populată de un milion de Gicu, toți să fie ca el, nimeni să nu difere în vreun detaliu. Nu cred că viziunea asta o contrazice neapărat pe a lui Nietzsche, deoarece gelozia și răzbunarea își au rădăcinile în mândrie, până la urmă.
